chirp 92

thanks for posting guys,
you inspire me
so,
this is my newest bird chirp 92
i got super detailed with this one,
it might be driving me a little nuts
so im starting the "new matters" soon
which will be an exploration of abstraction and realism within a new format
like boxes/ triptychs/diptychs and on
i hope to have something tangable
but the idea is still birthing
i want to get back to my roots of creating visual disorientation
electric rods and cones

trav, it's beautiful. exquisite. these birds have gotten better and better. i will be interested to see what your next series involves, what your next idea involves. i've never been overly interested in the pure aesthetic of beauty in and of itself, as I'm sure you know from our conversations, and from my random, maniacal rantings. i can't help but wish that i could see all of these birds together because it occurs to me that maybe there is a narrative here, or maybe a message embedded in these birds, in this series. i wish that i could study them in your studio, or in a gallery. i don't have the patience for the internet. it leaves me cold. do the birds represent us? is the bird a standin for the artist? are you watching us, travis? are we all as busy and neurotic as sparrows? is there a message out there that the birds carry but we fail to catch? i wonder about this series, this meditation, your thoughts...

hey thanks for the questions my man,

i truly believe that beauty enhances everyone's daily life, deeply,
...color, mountains, choice of earrings
surfacy beauty is beautiful.

the driving idea of my "style" that has emerged over the years is
surface isnt enough
through the application of paint, color and texture i can try to show more, interior.
the birds have their own implications, but what im primarily interested in is what happens inside the viewer.

i know that's pretty broad...
but i want to just keep creating beauty and self reflection. hopefully people get lost in the details and get knocked in the head with a little transcendence.
birds, of course being an overt symbol of that

if there is a neurotic component to it..
my chaos is always packaged neatly
i can pour myself into these little vessels and all is well.
the overarching philosophy being for me,
all this uncontrollable stuff has its place
it all fits...
the chaos is ordered...

i dig that, and get that, and do think beauty is an important/necessary component in our lives. i'm usually concerned with idea and impact of image. equation might be idea + image=emotion. sometimes thoughts make me feel something; sometimes feelings make me think things. this is where i operate, and as a result i gravitate toward artwork that presents ideas, or, i try to pull ideas out of whatever artwork is before me. the idea that the birds are vessel into which you pour yourself, in which you attempt to order this chaos and thereby create the harmony most of us need a bit of in order to function best is cool.
