new one

An Unfortunately Impossible Machine 48"x48" acrylic and tape on canvas over panel

i also made a webpage to go along with this painting: http://www.ithappenedhere.org

i've been thinking about memory and trying to incorporate it into my work. thus the early 90s references. the maps are 6 different places where i have lived before. the cockpit i did from those earlier drawings...i picked the drawing you guys liked the best and made it into this here painting...

there's a lot to discover in this one, i.e. the magazines in the seat pockets and the paisley texture. I think that and the overall symmetry make this fun to look at, and knowing that little bit about the maps really connects me to it.

hey ner,
ya, alot goin on, alot to see,
this isnt reading as well as it would in person, though, i think..
this large piece and it's textural madness is probably super seductive.
with that in mind,
one thing i liked about the drawing was the gradations and value pop.
i feel it should be darker and lighter, frankly.
id love to see a piece by you all colorful ala' nerstyle and glaze in some volume
cause all the patterning flattens everything.
i think this piece would benifit from that visually.
but i love the concept and the exploration of memory and who we used to be and all that.
