this is a really shitty pic i took in the kitchen cause it'll be awhile before i carry this beast outside. it's 4x4 feet and weighs like 40 pounds probably.
it's acrylic, oil, silver ink and tape on canvas over panel. i attached my source image, too because i wanna know if you think i should add those trees in on the right hand side. i didn't put them in because i wanted an open part to see the landscape. i made this image huge (sorry) so maybe you could see the different textures...especially where i make the bricks...i put down the ink and then sprayed it and then put a shit ton of gel over it and then made little bricks on top of that. the tape is in those ray color things up top. what do you think of that? is there too much goin' on?
cool thanks for any input

i love how you handle plants. i love the plant in the foreground of this painting.
i could argue both sides for putting the trees in. the photograph really needs the trees, your painting could go either way.
what color would you make the trees if you put them in?
when you say "ray color things up top," are you talking about the ceiling or those little paintings at the top of the pillars? either way, i think they add to the extreme perspective and weirdness.
is there too much goin' on??? there is always too much goin' on!!! in relation to your other paintings, i don't think there is too much goin' on.
it is funny to see your source picture with the painting because the mood of the two are so opposing.
why did you pick that source picture? is there something in particular about the composition that you liked?
ner
amazing once again
your work ethic and your paintings
i vote to put the tree in
i agree with mol though
it could go both ways
what im needing is a dark value
i wish the background was more either dark, neutraized or lighter
if you need your paintings to have the feeling of less going on
chunk the items into a dark medium light value strategy
and still put it "all" in
yay for ner!

also thanks for creating the genetic material (inspiring sexy paintings)
for artistic progeny
love the green in this
the water is outstanding
I like that you post your reference images too. It's fun to see how you bradnerize everything.
That's a tough one about the trees, but I agree with everyone else, it could go either way. Not much help there--sorry.
in the photo the trees somehow seem to "anchor" the ceiling more, wile in the painting the rays seem like a floating surface. Which I kind of like. The shape of the trees is nice but you might run the risk of making everything too complete and too real. I like some of the dreamlike aspects.
