Bum

Bum, 2010
acrylic paint object
5"x5"

This was just something fun to do, but I like the result. Aaron showed me how to do this. I made this by simply pouring acrylic paint solutions onto a Tupperware tray and letting them dry before adding stenciled text. The end project is this brittle, yet rubbery, poured acrylic painting/object.

dope is my fave here.
i like that its somewhat an odd shape
and it just comes through
also weird little chop like symbol by the P
super strong series idea.
you might like different mediums like the liquitex glazing medium as an addition to the poured paint
too many possibilities

bum i like but its doesnt have the contrast boom of dope
anyway prolly less about that stuff then about the process and idea

I can see it now. You are right. Dope is stronger. And, true, it's less about painting than process and idea, but...

Thx.

I have four more in the works. Decided to make enough to create a phrase...one word per piece.

I think I'm totally over the remark that was made when we did the Christian Art Show and someone told me that my work would always be about the text. I know that I rebelled; I stopped making paintings with text.

Text, baby. Text me. Texas. French toast made from Texas bread. Bread as in money. Money as in the downfall of civilization.
