so , heres a recent installmentthe top is a watercolor 20x20 ish
the bottom is an acrylic/oil 32x49 framed
in my watercolors i recently found these orbs interesting,
though im really watching myself not to get too formulaic
in my recent bird work, the next installment, im trying to scale back the complexity
well , see,
the bottom piece was fun and chirpful, im realizing i shine a bit more on a hard surface
i hate the bounce of canvas (which im currently battling with, and i knew i shouldnt have started it) so i think im going to just work on paper and board until i need to try textured bounce again.
im still trying to riff-it and come up with new and authentic approaches, as i said, once i find something that works, i usually forget to use the mind i was previously using when i was discovering and falling back to my formulas
which need to be balanced by sponetneity
imop.
thats a constant battle in my work
it slightly applys to these pieces

hahaha that bottom one is awesome. painted real well and it's really pretty funny cause the fat bird is weighing down the branch. little fatty. i like the circles a lot, too.
the top one i'm not as crazy about...maybe cause of all the black in the head of the bird..
if you don't like the bounce of canvas (which i can't staaaand, it really limits you) you can always do what i do and make a stretcher with a panel. i found some lighter wood now so they're not so heavy and you can have the hardware store cut any panel in any size and then you just wood glue and nail the boards evenly on the edge, add one for support and stretch canvas over it. if you want more detailed info on how to make them jus lemmie know. i don't understand the appeal of bounce when you're drawing/painting...
totally,
i almost mentioned your board technique, but i dont even like the tooth of canvas right now
so im leaving it behind
hehe he is no doubt
for some reason with those oil acrylic birds , i want to make panels that are odd shapes like a slightly more unique trapezoid
i never would have wanted to do that, but it came to me, what do you think?
the top guy im going to crop in, cause im having some of the same problems with it, i really like some of the details but the darks i am mixing are very acidy. id rather they be more soothing.
thanks , great input as always
i like the bottom one more, as well.
