"Lambent Terminal," 2'x2'. I finished this one this morning.

"Navigators," 2'x2'.

"Meridians," 2'x2', my friend Justin commissioned this to give to his best friends for their wedding.
I finally figured out a way around a problem I've been having with my camera, so here are some paintings from late fall/winter 2008 and, well, today. The top two are very textury -- I started them out by gessoing two boards and then squishing them together and letting the gesso dry. The bottom piece is on canvas. Forgive the slight fuzziness of the photos!

these paintings really inspire me to get more wild with the acrylic. i also love your source material which i am happy to see you putting up on facebook. you're very meticulous with the tape and measurements and everything and i love that contrast with the wildness and tons of different mediums you're using. that's my favorite part and that's why acrylic can be so awesome...how you can do a bunch of crazy brush work, blow dry it and then do a precise hard edge thing on top of it. beautiful.
i'm curious how some of these would look with more colors. the meridians one i think is my favorite and lambent is a very close second because there is more color. i dunno...i don't know that much about color theory so i just say "more color" haha. sorry if that sounds dumb now i'm rambling. thanks for the post!
Funny you should say that, I have this tug-of-war with myself over color. I keep telling myself I'm going to use a more restricted palette -- just earth tones and white. But then I start painting and it all goes out the window.
There's a neat book called "Rethinking Acrylic" by Patti Brady that's worth a look next time you're in a bookstore.
great work!
lambent is my fave
i love the wierd geometry and the strong one color idea
it definitely reads as a yellow piece
the layers are genius

i like the disorientation of the flat 2 sections then the ghostly qbert grid

I think the folks from Golden must have funded it, there's a whole lotta Golden product placement in it. But it's got some really cool technique ideas.
