heres a wall of my portraits at blue gallery last june...
taking this series to the next level is continual, this show i simply added a color, gessoed some of the pieces with wood totally exposed in certain areas and tried to see each piece through in its own spirit.
im open to suggestions on what yall think about new possibilities.
my next piece, from my notes here will be a larger ungessoed wood piece done with nails and weathered outside
inspired by our fence which dripped sediment after a month or two of exposure.
the nails will form the portrait.
after the exposure i may take the nails out, dip them in pastelish paint and reinsert them

let me know if you have any strong opinions

the presentation of these is super slick. very impressive. the portraits really remind me of elizabeth peyton...except these girls are way hotter than the androgynous people/person she paints.

it's hard to picture what you mean with the nails forming the portrait...are you going to use like a hundred nails to draw a face with or something? or just the eyes and nose? that sounds hard as hell either way but if you pull it off that will be awesome and impressive. i'm very curious to see it.

nice talkin today. pretty soon i'll make that work habit post...probably at work haha.

ya, im not sure if the vision will manifest like i wanted. should be hundreds of nails...
painting each nail will help me manage the nuances of the person..
but i recently wanted to make these portraits out of letters and each piece would be a different letter...
and would ultimately spell something
it looked shittier than my vision
so, i have a fear of that right now..
